The Bluehills Herd of Golden Guernsey Goats

South Western Goat Show & Golden Guernsey National Breed Show 2010

This was the first time we'd been to the Bristol show as competitors and it was great to be on the 'other side of the fence' with all the top quality goats.

My thanks go to Bob & Ros Featherstone who acted as official photographers and took all the great pictures I'm using here. You can see more of their photos on the Golden Guernsey Goat Society Web site..

Bluehills Freya

Freya was entered into the class for 'Golden Guernsey Goatling'. The result was that she was awarded 4th place out of a small entry of 5. OK, it was her first time out :-)

Daylight Serene

Serene was entered in the class for 'Golden Guernsey Milker'. Unfortunately she came 4th, which was bottom of the class. I have to admit that this didn't come as a suprise as I've not been trying to optimise Serene's milk production this year and so the small amount that she produced on the day counted heavily against her.

Bluehills BriarRose

BriarRose was entered in the class for 'Golden Guernsey Female Kid'.

She gained 2nd place in the class and was awarded three rosettes.

  • 2nd place 'South Western Goat Show'
  • 2nd place 'Golden Guernsey Goat Society'
  • Golden Guernsey Goat Society - 'Reserve Best Female Kid'

Although I have to admit the field was small, er two actually, I cling to the notion that her 2nd place was well-earned. :-)
